The Power of Knowledge

God rejoices when we seek knowledge about Him and His ways. Many people wish to enter heaven, yet they rarely read the Bible and remain unaware of its teachings on reconciliation with God. It’s crucial to understand that God yearns for us to be in heaven, yet ignoring Him is a fatal mistake.

Understanding God's Perspective

People often shape God and spirituality to fit their beliefs. However, God does not bend to our views, any more than an adult would conform to a child’s understanding. Assumptions and wishful thinking about God are the worst possible strategies. We must learn from the Bible about God and ourselves because ultimately, we all are accountable to Him.

The Joy of Repentance

Luke 15:10 illustrates this beautifully, “there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Let’s take a moment to pray for the wisdom to understand the truth about God and His ways.

The Limits of Good Deeds

All religions suggest that good deeds may earn us a place in heaven, yet they can’t determine the extent of ‘good enough.’ Once our earthly lives end, we can’t change our past actions. God, in His infinite wisdom, provides a simple and assured way to heaven without doing enough ‘good deeds’: Jesus.

God desires a relationship rather than ritualistic religion. Ephesians 2:8-9 emphasizes that salvation is not earned by deeds but is a gift from God. No amount of good deeds can erase our sins. Matthew 10:26 warns, “… for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The Impact of Sin

Romans 6:23 delineates the consequences of sin, “For the wages of sin is death [hell]; but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Fear of accountability for our sins is a reality we must confront in this age of political correctness and moral relativism.

Our Universal Struggle

Everyone falls short of the Ten Commandments, making us all guilty of sin. This sin creates a divide between us and our Creator. Self-deception about our innocence only exacerbates the problem. The time to reconcile with God is now.

While many fear diseases and aging, the universal problem we face is sin. Sin is the barrier that keeps us from heaven and condemns us to hell. Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:13-14 about the narrow gate to heaven and the wide path to destruction.

Law Broken

Guilt, Accountability, and Forgiveness

Just as breaking one law can condemn us in a court, one sin is enough to fall short of God’s standards (Romans 3:23). However, Jesus, our judge, shows mercy to His followers, as noted in John 5:22-24.

22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

The Fear of the Unknown

Both nominal Christians and non-believers share a common fear: What if the Bible is true?

In an age with unprecedented access to knowledge, it is unwise to ignore the teachings of the Bible. Belief in the Bible holds no downside for Christians, but those who disregard it risk everything.

The Promise of Eternal Life

Some believe that upon death, their soul ceases to exist.

However, this contradicts the majority opinion and the teachings of Jesus, who returned from death to share his insights. If life ends with death, it would render existence meaningless. Yet, God has a divine purpose for each of us. Through logic, reason, and faith, the promise of eternal life becomes an irrefutable conclusion.

A Personal Journey to Certainty

The Awakening

About thirty years ago, I faced a fundamental existential question: Where would I spend eternity? The brevity of life and the infinity of eternity led me to conclude that there had to be a clear path laid out by God towards our eternal destiny. This path should not be left to chance or ignorance.

I sought answers, yet my own understanding fell short. In desperation, I turned to God in prayer, yearning for guidance to ensure my place in heaven.

The Revelations

Embracing the Bible, I was startled by John 3:3, where Jesus asserts, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” I understood the gravity of my situation—I wasn’t born again, and I needed to comprehend what that truly meant.

The scriptures elucidated that we are all born physically alive but spiritually dead. Our innate selfishness orients us towards the physical world, yet God instructs us to undergo a spiritual rebirth and shift our focus to spiritual and eternal matters. Galatians 6:7-8 profoundly encapsulates this idea.

The Assurance

Most believe that no one can ascertain their eternal destination before their death. However, I realized this perspective entrusts our eternity to chance—an unacceptable gamble when one considers the eternal life of our souls beyond our mortal existence.

Unlocking Eternal Life

God, in His infinite mercy, has provided an accessible, free cure for our sins. Fundamental truths about Jesus form the cornerstone of this divine redemption:

  1. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins on the cross.
  2. His crucifixion was marked by the shedding of His blood.
  3. He chose to suffer this agonizing death voluntarily, not for Himself—for He was sinless—but for us.

Embracing Salvation

From insecurity to eternal security, the transition is a heartfelt conversation with God. We confess our sins, repent and seek forgiveness, accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, and invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts.

Once I prayed with genuine intent, Matthew 10:28 solidified my newfound peace. I felt an unprecedented tranquility, knowing I was in right standing with God.

The Power of Jesus’ Blood

The Bible reassures us that the blood of Jesus washes away our sins, akin to deleting a record in a computer file. This profound truth means that when we (true followers of Christ) stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment, our records will be sinless—cleansed by Jesus’ blood.

A Heartfelt Prayer

Eternal life’s worth cannot be overstated. Pray with sincerity, and you, too, can have the confidence that you are in right standing with your Creator, assured of your place in heaven.

Prayer to get right with God

Dear Father in heaven, I confess that I am a sinner and my sins have separated us. I want to be in a right relationship with You.

I ask You to help me remember my sins so that I may repent of them and come clean.

I sincerely repent of my sins and ask for Your mercy to forgive me of my sins. I accept Jesus’ crucifixion, His shed blood and rising from the dead as His payment for my sins. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to come into my heart to guide my thoughts and actions and to help me stay away from my sinful ways. Thank You in the name of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.

“… there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”  Luke 15:10

Jesus' salvation is not a cheap gift to be ignored

God has emotions too. If you stand before a judge who loves you and you return that love, that judge will forgive you or pay your penalty and let you go free. But if this Judge learns His love for you is scorned, you will regret it!

Jesus willingly dying on the cross in payment for our sins, was the absolute highest price anyone ever paid for anything! And … that was for the salvation of the souls who accept Him! What can you offer to God in payment for your sins? Can you think of anything more precious than an only born child? Jesus is sinless, thus only He is eligible to be our Savior. To ignore/reject this ultimate sacrifice, brings His wrath.

But God loves you so much that He didn’t hold back His precious Son, but allowed Him to be our sacrificial Lamb, so that we could get back on track with His original plan for our lives (paradise with Him for eternity).

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Romans 10:9-13 says “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

I hope your eternal life is worth enough for you to pray the following prayer with deep sincerity. If you do, you too can have the confidence that you are in right standing with your Creator and will make it into heaven.

1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
